Police noticed that Civil Human Rights Front (CHRF) had announced its disbandment around noon today (August 15). In April, Police requested CHRF to submit information of its members, activities and fund etc. in accordance with section 15 of the Societies Ordinance. Yet, CHRF failed to submit the requested information to the Societies Officer within the designated period of time. Police is actively taking follow-up action on CHRF’s violation of the Societies Ordinance.
In addition, since its establishment in 2002, CHRF had never registered with the Companies Registry as a company, nor registered with Police Licensing Office as a legal society. As such, CHRF has been operating illegally. Police reiterated that an organisation and its member(s) remain criminally liable for the offence committed, regardless of the disbandment of the organisation or the resignation of its member(s).
