Labor ‘put 8,500 children’ in detention: McCormack
Acting Prime Minister Michael McCormack says he won’t be lectured to by Labor who “put 8,500 children in detention” when they were in government.
Labor leader Anthony Albanese pressed the government over the detention of the Tamil family during Tuesday’s Question Time.
“We are providing the humanitarian support. We are providing the necessary health support. We are providing the necessary economic support,” Mr McCormack said.
“It is a bit rich, and I will not be lectured to by Labor who under their watch, put 8,500 children in detention.”
